Cushions: The secret to gaming chair comfort

Whether you are working, creating, livestreaming, or gaming, the last thing you want to feel is aches or discomfort. Aches forces you to shift your focus from your work to finding a sense of comfort. This distraction is bad, as it will cause you to make mistakes or give the opposing team an opportunity to snatch victory from your hands.
In our previous article, we talked about the chair upholstery being a source of comfort. But it’s what’s inside the chair, namely, the cushioning, that keeps you seated and supported for hours on end.
Cushioning life’s greatest falls

Cushions in gaming chairs are meant to provide long-term comfort and posture support. By distributing weight evenly and stabilising the user’s posture, cushions can reduce the risk of aches and make the user’s routine more manageable.
Seats that are too hard or unpadded can inflame pressure points under the hips, causing your body to slouch. The longer you maintain a slouched posture, the more at-risk you are of suffering back pain, headaches, and shortness of breath.
When it comes to keeping users seated, the softness of a cushion matters. A firm cushion can keep you in a proper posture, but it can also lead to excruciating pain over time. On the other hand, a soft chair can massage your pressure points but can compress over long-term usage, which can hurt your posture.
For an optimal comfort experience, you need chairs that are both firm enough to support your posture and soft enough to keep your body comfortable. At TTRacing, we use cushions that have a balance of both, including cold-cure foam, memory foam, and velour.
Cold-cure foam

All of our gaming chairs are padded with cold-cure foam, which has a higher density than other traditional foams. This higher density is crucial for providing optimal comfort and posture support. Plus, it has a longer lifespan, so you can rest assured that your TTRacing chair can keep you seated for the long haul.
Memory foam

Memory foam has the unique ability to conform to the user’s body shape and return to its original form when the user leaves the chair. This feature makes memory foam the ideal material for our neck and lumbar pillows, as the moulded pillow cushions your curves more evenly, which translates to great pressure relief.
Velour

Translated into “velvet” in French, velour emerged as a cheaper, more durable alternative to velvet fabric. Boasting a soft, luxurious texture, velour fabric is used to pad our armrests, including our high-end Maxx Pro model. These padded armrests give users the perfect spot to relax their arms so they can work or game for longer hours.
Sink into comfort

A well-designed cushion has the right amount of density and relief to keep users supported for hours on end. When they are supported, they will be able to lock-in for those important milestones or match-critical gameplay. This is why we at TTRacing go above and beyond to select semi-soft foams for comfortable and supportive gaming chairs.
